Well after several days of fine tunning here they are!!! Two modules for Galaxy. Why two??? Well there seems to be two rom version (at least that I know of.)
The way to determine which one you need is: do a dump into the 'Bulk Dump' type of bundle/bank. This is done by creating the bulk bundle and select 'Get Bulk Data from Device.' Then from the octapad. Slide the switch so you are in Edit mode. Press the MIDI key once. Press the open back arrow twice (this is the key right under the patch chain key.) Now the word DUMP is blinking. Press Enter. Press the closed back arrow (this is the one under the open back arrow) until the display says DUMP PATCH-ALL. Press enter. When it is done hit the mouse button and the window with for the bulk dump
will display the size.
Now if the size is 25472 then use the module 'Octapad II'. If the size is 25600 then use the module 'Octapad II (NR)' (New Rom.) Now install the correct module.
A couple of additional notes:
The Octapad only has a limited amount of display characters. They are on page 45 (in my manual.) If you enter characters on the Macintosh screen and they are not allowed, they will be converted to spaces when they are transmited to the Octapad!
For some reason, occasionally when you do the Send Bank to devices/Send all banks. After you click OK, it does not always transmit (it comes right back to the screen). So you will have to send it again and it will work.
When I first started the module I used the 'To Display Name Script' and it took about 8 minutes to convert the names. So I decided to write PCmd's with Think C (finally an excuse to learn how to program in C.) If you give copies to you friends make sure they get the orginal copies that you downloaded. If you 'Export' them they will loose the code resources that are necessary for the modules to work!!! So only give away the orginals.
If you have an Octapad that has the old Roms and you friend has a newer Octapad you won't be able to transfer patches between them. I called Roland and they said that I could bring it to a Roland service center and they will install the newer rom chip in it (I'm not sure if this is free or not). The revision as of today is 1.11 according to the service tech.
